Just like the trees in the Northern Hemisphere that begin to slowly lose their leaves, it’s a great time to slow down and think about what we are thankful for as we get ready for a season of celebrating the birth of our Savior. We would like to share what God has done this past year that we are truly thank for in the ministry. Rejoice with us! And we hope it inspires you to spend some time to reflect on this past year so far. Giving Thanks
2025 GoalsSee our Equipping the Next Generation module taught in Cuba and Costa Rica.
Assist Pastor Sid on the San Carlos Apache Reservation to strengthen and encourage the community. Visit 2-3 times with a team in 2025. Add another 10 monthly supporters so we can teach and equip in more places. Send out teachers twice next year to teach our Equipping the Next Generation module in East and West Africa. We are always so grateful for you and the ways you partner with NMC. The workers are few, but the harvest is plentiful. Thank you for working with us to pour into the harvest. Grateful, The No More Crumbs Team We are in awe of all God did in Benin to transform hearts! We ended up sending Leonard Ssemazzi to teach in Benin, which was definitely God’s plan for this nation. This update is a bit long but worth the read. Day 1 On the first day of training pastors and children's workers, a total of 47 pastors attended. They traveled from various regions of Benin, riding on motorcycles for miles and miles to participate in this vital training. Leonard shared the vision of No More Crumbs and the History of Sunday School through our curriculum. He used an engaging illustration involving tossing bread to depict the concept of crumbs and the feelings associated with providing inadequate spiritual resources to God's children. Session 3: Ministering to Children This session highlighted the unique creation of every child and the importance of recognizing their purpose. An emphasis was placed on avoiding negative labeling due to unique behaviors. The concept of discipline was distinguished from punishment, which calls for a shift in mindset towards nurturing and guiding children positively and with love. Many attendees responded enthusiastically, expressing their commitment to change the narrative in Benin regarding how children are perceived and treated. Day 2 The second day of training had a remarkable turnout of 112 pastors from both Benin (80) and Togo (32), despite the heavy rainfall. After the first day, pastors were calling their fellow pastors to come and join because it was so life changing. They began the day with reflections and a recap of the previous day’s materials. Many expressed their surprise at the distinctions drawn between punishment and discipline, leading to significant revelations. Two pastors shared their repentance for adopting a brutal approach to parenting, believing it was the only way to mold their children. (Caning children is a deep rooted part of African culture.) Several pastors shed tears while confessing their neglect of ministering to children. It became clear that a pervasive myth existed among some attendees: the belief that children can only serve God when they reach a certain age. This realization prompted a commitment to embrace and nurture the spiritual potential of even the most stubborn children. A notable moment was when pastors recognized their own shortcomings in raising their own children and an understanding that God created every generation with unique mandates, particularly concerning Generation Z. Many promised to be more accepting and supportive of this generation, allowing them to serve within the church. The testimonies shared highlighted a significant shift in mindset regarding children. Pastors expressed gratitude for the teachings, which allowed them to view children through God's eyes, fostering a renewed commitment to their ministry. In light of the impact this module has had, many pastors suggested translating the material into various local languages. They believe this will help to cultivate a new kingdom culture throughout Benin. Additionally, there were enthusiastic requests for expanding Equipping the Next Generation to reach more villages.
Thanks to all of you that prayed and donated funds for this trip! We are looking forward to many future opportunities to teach this module in Africa. In Christ, No More Crumbs Ministry Team Hope this newsletter finds all of you well and enjoying this Fall season, although it doesn’t seem much like Fall here in Southern California with the high temperatures! Since returning from South Africa and Ghana, the last few months have been spent building and expanding our No More Crumbs Team. We are excited about what the future holds for the ministry and will cover more of this in our next newsletter. Next Monday October 23rd - October 29th, Colleen will be in Arizona to do some teaching and ministry on the White River Apache Reservation in Slow Low and Navajo Nation in Kayenta. This is an amazing opportunity to connect with two tribes of Indigenous People and build relationships that we hope will bring about ongoing partnerships and ministry opportunities. We are partnering with Hope Sound Collective, a ministry started by Rachel Lee, who Colleen met through church. Rachel has been doing worship nights and helping with Youth Camps in these places for a number of years and has built some strong relationships with the church leaders.
Ministering to Indigenous People has been on our heart for some time now and we are thrilled that God has opened the doors for us to partner with Rachel and the ministry. Colleen will be teaching the “Brick-Upon-Brick” identity series in these places as there is a real need for youth to know their God-given identity as there are so many layers of lies that many believe. If you would like to receive daily updates from Colleen while she is ministering, please simply respond to this newsletter. As always, we appreciate your prayers and support. The No More Crumbs Ministry Team The holidays are upon us, with Thanksgiving just a few days away. We want to take this opportunity to thank all who support us through prayer and finances. It has been a very interesting year for ministry for many. With travel shut down, we have been ministering from home and using some of our finances to support four ministries who have been doing great things in the midst of these challenging times. We would like to update you on our work and partnerships:
We are so blessed to have been able to partner with these ministries and impact hundreds of people. Thank you once again for your commitment to supporting No More Crumbs Ministry and may you have a joyful and blessed holiday season. No More Crumbs Team |
